The process of creating Custom Dye Sublimation T Shirts is not difficult, it involves a white, 100% polyester T-Shirt, special dye sublimation inks, transfer papers, a special printer and industrial heat.

The graphic artist begins by designing the Custom Dye Sublimation T Shirts in a basic desktop graphics software package.  Once the design is ready, it is printed on the special dye sublimation transfer paper.  When the printing company is ready to create the Custom Dye Sublimation T Shirts, the polyester T-Shirt and the transfer paper are placed on a large industrial heat press and using specific temperatures for dye sub migration, the heat is applied and the image is transferred.

Dye Sublimation Printing is a process for decorating textiles, fabrics and garments using a heat transferred opaque ink system and industrial heat.  Images are printed on special Dye Sublimation Printing transfer paper and then using an industrial heat press, they are transferred onto the fabric or finished garment.

Until recently Dye Sublimation Printing was only used on rolled or bolt fabric, prior to the garment being sewn.  Recently, garment decorating companies have been using Dye Sublimation Printing to decorate already sewn garments.  T-Shirts have been the main item used for post cut and sew Dye Sublimation Printing.

Dye Sublimation Printing is being offered in a variety of different sizes for finished garments.  When selecting a partner to provide Dye Sublimation Printing services, one thing to ask is the maximum width of their printing ability.  The true value of dye sub printing is the ability to print in an oversized area or all over a garment.  Working with partners that have limited print areas will only enable you to receive a finished product with a decoration size of 14" x 16", the eye popping Dye Sublimation Printing that you have seen in retail stores and out and about, requires a vastly larger industrial heat press and printing press to accomplish.
