Components of the design are then etched into the emulsion which allows ink to pass through the screen wherever the design is located. Depending on the amount of colors in the design, there can be multiple screens used for each color. During printing, the colored ink is dragged across the mesh on top of the garment. Wherever the mesh is open, the ink will pass through and leave behind the design. It’s a lot like using a stencil but it requires a lot more effort and precision to execute a top quality print.
