AMBRO Manufacturing is a contract apparel customization company with over 30 years in the business so we offer many different garment decoration services.  Most printing companies work with plastisol inks because they are easier to work with, cost less, and can be reclaimed after a job is complete.  With all those positives, why do people still want waterbased inks?  Waterbased inks contain a solvent, unlike plastisol inks, so they are thinner and penetrate deeper into the fabric.  Due to the nature of the ink, the resulting prints are much softer than plastisol prints and this is very desirable to most consumers.  If you are doing all over printing, waterbased inks are especially favorable because they won’t weigh you down even with all over coverage.

If you aren’t very familiar with screen printing, it’s not difficult to grasp.  The process gets its name from the silk mesh screens that are used to distribute the ink onto the garment.  Each part of the design that is of the same color is etched into its own silk screen that is covered with an emulsion.  The emulsion does not let any ink pass through the screen so wherever the design is, the emulsion is removed.  The screens are then loaded onto the printing press and positioned over the blank garments.  Colored inks are squeegeed across the screens, one color at a time, until the final image is completed.  The printed garment is then put through a dryer to set the ink and just like that, you have your own custom screen printing clothing!
