You can start printing softer prints today if you switch to printing with water based printing inks.  People get custom screen printing every day and a lot of the time they are using plastisol inks to do so.  Plastisol inks are nice because the excess ink can easily be reclaimed to be used again which helps keep the cost low.  They won’t dry up since they don’t contain a solvent, but there is a drawback to this property since they need to be cured to set permanently.  When you cure a plastisol ink it stiffens up and when you’re dealing with a lot of ink coverage it can make a garment feel heavy and bulky. Water based printing inks don’t have that problem so you can get super soft hand on your own custom prints.

Water based printing inks are formulated with a solvent, usually water, which means you can’t reuse them like plastisol inks, but the tradeoff is in the quality of the print.  Water based printing inks are thinner and penetrate more into the garment while leaving behind a soft hand. Custom Scented Clothing

If you create your own custom clothing, you might think you’ve heard of all the different types of services available for customization.  You certainly must already know about screen printing and embroidery, and probably even foil printing, vinyl, applique, discharge printing and sublimation too, so what surprises are could be awaiting? Well you could try tapping into a new way to ‘sense’ a print beyond sight and touch.  I’m talking about your sense of smell and custom scented clothing of course! Custom scented clothing is an unexpected way to get people to notice your designs because you can add fragrance to a gorgeous print.

Custom Scented Clothing

If you’re just finding out about custom scented clothing then you are probably curious as to how it works.  The process is quite like regular screen printing, but with a few modifications. With regular screen printing silk mesh screens are covered in an emulsion that has a design etched onto the surface and each color in the design gets its own screen that will be laid onto the garment in succession until the complete image is applied.  When doing a scented print, a transparent layer of ink containing the scent is put on as the last step. The clear layer acts like a microscopic sheet of bubble wrap where each of the bubbles contains your custom scent. As you wear the garment and it moves around, the microscopic scent bubbles burst, releasing the scent periodically instead of all at once.  Over time and with frequent washing, the scent will eventually fade, but the print will still be bold and beautiful.
