Have you ever heard of sublimation printing before? It’s a method of printing that has been adapted to printing on fabric surfaces. It doesn’t apply layers of colored inks like screen printing would, but instead the entire image is transferred in one motion. A sublimation printer is used to print out specialized dye onto a sheet of heat resistant paper. The print out is placed onto the fabric to be printed and both are put into a sublimation press. The press applies high heat and pressure over a short period of time which causes the dye on the paper to be released as a gas and absorbed by the material below.
